Cycling, you will arrive earlier

Cycling is the fastest and most efficient way to urban commuting. Cycling is time saving.

Mobility in big cities is a huge problem for citizens, who waste a lot of time commuting, stuck in traffic jams.

According to anAECOC report, the citizens of Barcelona lose up to 147 hours a year in traffic jams.

If you don’t understand the size of traffic jams: 147 hours a year are equivalent to more than 15 working days. And if we consider it in leisure terms, it is equivalent to almost a week of vacation.

The average traffic speed in the urban center is only 13 kilometers per hour. Does this sound familiar to you?

This loss of time translates into financial, environmental and accident costs. Specifically, these externalities in Spain represent losses up to 2% of the Gross Domestic Product.

The bicycle is part of the solution

Don’t just take our word for it. The results of another research published in elDiario.es, achieved by the Faculty of Sports Sciences of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, show that cycling is the fastest way to get around the city.

By car, time is almost doubled compared to the employee by bicycle, with a difference of 5 to 20 minutes.

Regarding the average speed maintained, the bicycle is the fastest way with 13.07 km / h. Next, public transport, with 8.91 km / h, followed closely by the car with 8.42 km / h. Finally, walking, with 5.41 km / h.

At distances less than a kilometer, walking is more efficient. From a kilometer, the bicycle is the fastest mode of transport in the city, up to 13.75 km, which is when the car starts to have an advantage as a means of transport.

The conclusion of this study is very clear: the bicycle is the fastest and most efficient means of transport in the city.

Also, more bicycles mean fewer cars, fewer cars mean less congestion, less congestion… guess the answer?

Yes, you are right: kinder, healthier and more sustainable cities.

The empirical test

A test was recently carried out to analyze the efficiency of different modes of transport in an intercommunity journey of about 10 km.

Up to 10 modes of transport or combinations of them have left at the same time from point A to point B to analyze the economic, energy and time costs required to commute.

The bike arrived first, 21 minutes, followed by the e-bike, 23 minutes.

The car took 34 minutes, between the route and parking facilities. By train and walking, 31 minutes. 39 minutes running and 52 minutes by bus and walking.

Regarding the economic cost, the car costs € 7 between petrol and parking, the motorcycle € 2.9 and the bus € 2.24

Of course, car, bus and subway are the transport modes with the highest energy consumption.

We are clear about it, we are committed to the effective bicycle. We prefer not to waste time, money and energy on day-to-day commuting.
